About PKF
Hi there! Lois here and I am the owner and dyer behind Parkour Kitties Fibers, a one-woman business of hand dyed fibres in Singapore.
Parkour (/pɑːˈkʊə/) Kitties is named after our cats who are super jumpers when we play with them, especially with the feather teaser! If you would like to see more about our cats, follow me on my Instagram stories.
My colour inspirations are mainly from everyday life and my love for Japanese animations, in particular, Studio Ghibli with works by Hayao Miyazaki.
The fibres I use are ethically sourced and mulesing-free, from Australia, Europe, South America and Africa. Am always looking out for attainable, quality and luxurious fibres to bring to the crafting community. These fibres are dyed with care in a pet-friendly environment.
This is Henry, the 3rd rescued cat we've adopted in 2021 when he was 4 months old.
An obsessive knitter
I picked up knitting and crochet in my teens through books (we don’t have YouTube or internet then!) and it was quite limiting cos’ i’ve only one knitting book that I inherited from my sister. I don’t remember how I learned crochet but it was my go-to and all I did was straight rectangular scarfs!
I only started making knitwear in 2018. It started with socks cos’ I thought since it’s small, it should be fairly easy and quick to make. I was so wrong! But it did became easier, and I love knitting socks that it is my “palette cleanser” after each project. In 2020, I think I knitted 10 pairs of socks! I learned so much from following knitters on Youtube and IG! And Google is my friend!
These days, I don’t have much time to knit but I love to knit while watching Netflix. And I test knit when I can. I love to support independent knitwear designers and my favourite is our very own Bernice Lim (IG @yamagara).
I am on Ravelry as @LoLoTee if you want to check out the projects I have worked on or my WIPs (work-in-progress).
